Designing a new destination venue within the iconic Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh was both an honour and a journey through time. With sweeping views of Edinburgh Castle, the hotel has long been synonymous with exclusivity, attracting Hollywood A-listers in search of quiet luxury in the city’s historic heart. The courtyard, formerly Platform 1 of the Caledonian Railway Station, became our point of departure. Its past informs every detail—expressed through considered forms, rhythmic shapes, and materials inspired by the opulence of vintage railway interiors. Today, the space is a refined gathering place, welcoming guests from lunch through to dinner and drinks, where heritage and contemporary hospitality meet.
